Bridgeport, WV. Genesis Partners, the owners of the 1,700-acre Charles Pointe development in Bridgeport, is announcing a new joint venture to develop the first 25-acres located within the new Charles Pointe Crossing retail center.
Genesis Partners and Interstate Development Company of Bristol, TN formed the partnership to develop the first phase of Charles Pointe Crossing. The 25-acres, located just inside of the I-279 entrance of Charles Pointe Crossing, will feature up to 240,000 square feet of new retail, restaurant, and commercial space.
"This joint venture with Interstate Development Company will allow us to secure national and regional brands to Charles Pointe," said Mark Dellana, Executive Director of Development for Genesis Partners. "This first phase of the retail development at Charles Pointe Crossing will allow us to complement the Menard's superstore already announced."
IDC co-owner Mike Nidiffer said, “"We have a saying in our office that when you have the best jockey (IDC) and the best horse (Charles Pointe) on the track, you always win the race."
"The IDC team just returned from a major national shopping center convention and I am pleased to say that a majority of the retail space at Charles Pointe Crossing is already committed. We are extremely excited about this opportunity in Bridgeport and we thank Genesis Partners for their confidence in our company," Nidiffer said. Interstate Development Company (IDC) has been in the commercial real estate industry since 1955. The company is not a newcomer to commercial and retail development in West Virginia. IDC has been involved in very successful similar ventures to develop University Towne Center in Morgantown (Granville), Park Place in South Charleston, and Tanyard Station and Merritt Creek Farm in Barboursville near Huntington.
IDC co-owner Brent Roswall is a native of West Virginia.
"West Virginia will always have a special place in my heart, personally and professionally" Roswall said. "Our company is now approaching three million square feet of retail space in West Virginia alone. All of our projects are strategically located in growth areas of the state. We are excited to offer our retail clients the opportunity to locate at Charles Pointe Crossing."
Roswall said that IDC has development successful relationships with major and regional brands looking to expand in West Virginia. Because of the growth of North Central West Virginia and the master-planning approach of Genesis Partners, Roswall said that Charles Pointe Crossing is one of the most attractive retail venues anywhere east of the Mississippi River.
According to Dellana, Genesis Partners and IDC are already working together to accommodate the construction of retail operations. Announcements will be forthcoming over the summer and fall.
Charles Pointe is an award winning $1.5 billion state-of-the-art mixed- use community spanning over 1,700 acres in Bridgeport. The development combines commercial, residential, retail, and recreational opportunities into one community.
