Pittsburgh-based Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC) has moved its Bridgeport, W.Va., office to Charles Pointe, a $1.5 billion, 1,700-acre, mixed-use, master-planned community located in the I-79 High Technology Corridor. The firm has leased 18,600 square feet of Class A office space at 600 Marketplace Avenue for 65 employees. The Bridgeport office of CEC provides civil, ecological, environmental, and survey services, as well as wastewater collection, transmission, and treatment solutions to the mining, oil and gas, and real estate industries, as well as to the public sector.
According to Engineering News-Record, CEC is the 90th largest environmental firm in the world, based on 2014 revenues. “Due to CEC’s growth both inside and outside the north central West Virginia region, there emerged a need for a more responsive, flexible space that would accommodate our requirements both staffing and technology standpoints,” said Dennis E. Miller, P.S., vice president and Bridgeport office lead. “Charles Pointe was conveniently located and had the infrastructure in place to support the fast-paced projects we complete for our clients.”
In addition to the Bridgeport office, the Pittsburgh-based firm has offices in Austin, Tex.; Boston, Mass.; Charlotte, N.C.; Chicago, Ill.; Cincinnati, Ohio; Columbus, Ohio; Detroit, Mich.; Export, Pa.; Greenville, S.C.; Indianapolis, Ind.; Knoxville, Tenn.; Nashville, Tenn.; Philadelphia, Pa.; Phoenix, Ariz.; Sayre, Pa.; Sevierville, Tenn.; St. Louis, Mo.; and Toledo, Ohio.
“The addition of Civil & Environmental Consultants to Charles Pointe’s tenant roster is great news for our community and the region,” said James Corton, managing partner of Genesis Partners, the developer of Charles Pointe. “They are a world-class company, and their jobs are stable and well-paying. Charles Pointe’s central location, mix of commercial, residential, and recreational space, and our community-wide, state-of-the-art fiber optic network will help the firm continue to attract new talent to the region.”
Located in one of the region’s fastest-growing areas, Charles Pointe has plans for more than three million square feet of retail, commercial, and office space, as well as over 2,300 homes. Charles Pointe is currently home to over 300,000 square feet of commercial users and over 230 residential units. Included in this mix are the 15,000-square-foot Bridgeport Conference Center, two Wyndham hotels, 14 restaurants and other retail establishments, and nine businesses and organizations occupying 57,000 square feet of Class A office space. The regional headquarters of PDC Energy, occupying 32,000 square feet of space, is also located in the community. Charles Pointe is the state of West Virginia’s largest mixed-use, master-planned community and is one of the largest public-private partnerships in the United States.
