BRIDGEPORT, W. Va. – One of the world’s largest hotel companies is building a new hotel and conference center in West Virginia.

Choice Hotels International has teamed up with Realcom to develop a new Cambria Suites and conference facility in Bridgeport.

It will be the first of its kind in the state.

“We continue to experience strong momentum in bringing the Cambria Suites experience to new travelers in new markets, and we’re excited to announce our new hotel at Charles Pointe,” Michael Murphy, senior vice president of Upscale Brands, Choice Hotels International, said in a prepared statement.

The 121-room Cambria Suites will be located within the Marketplace at Charles Pointe. Construction is expected to start early this year.

“The addition of the upscale Cambria brand adds another dimension to the lodging and convention offerings in Bridgeport,” Scott Duarte, managing director of CP Hospitality, said in a statement.

Part of CP Hospitality’s five-year plan is to expand its current conference and meetings footprint from 15,000-plus square feet to 40,000-plus square feet at Charles Pointe, Duarte said.

The Charles Pointe Cambria Suites will feature such amenities as a contemporary bistro serving dinner, liquor, wine, beer, grab-and-go gourmet salads and sandwiches, a bar featuring gourmet coffee and tea with a hot breakfast and a state-of-the-art fitness center.

“Being selected as the site for the new Cambria Suites brought the plan together,” Duarte said. “This truly makes Harrison County and north-central West Virginia a meetings and convention destination.”
