Area Residents Invited to ‘Tour the Pointe’ At Charles Pointe Celebration August 6

BRIDGEPORT, W. Va. – Charles Pointe, will open its gates to the public 9:45 a.m. – 2 p.m., Saturday, August 6. North Central West Virginians are being invited to "Tour the Pointe’. The event will mark the first opportunity to tour the property that will become state’s first master-planned community.

The event will feature tours of the site, food, entertainment, giveaways, and special activities for children. Entry, food and all activities are free.

Genesis Partners, who are developing the community, will host the event. Joining them will be local business partners who are taking an active role in building Charles Pointe. All will be available to answer questions.

"We look forward to the celebration and to sharing our vision with our fellow West Virginians. The best way to do that is by welcoming people to the site and showing them first-hand what Charles Pointe is, how it will evolve and, most importantly, how it will contribute to the lifestyle and economy of our region," said James A. Corton, managing partner of Genesis Partners.

Charles Pointe will include residences, a traditional ‘downtown’ with retail shops and restaurants, office parks, outdoor and indoor recreation facilities in a technologically smart community. Located on 2,000 acres off the I-79 Jerry Dove Exit, Charles Pointe is designed as a complete and cohesive community where quality of life comes first.

Described as a "place to work, play and live," the master-planned community is the dream of Corton and his wife, Jennifer Compton Corton, a managing partner of Genesis Partners. She is the daughter of the late James Charles Compton of Bridgeport, a noted businessman and inventor of the coal auger. The community is named in his honor.

In the planning stages for more than five years, Charles Pointe has taken a major step toward realization this past year with the beginning of construction on the Bridgeport conference center, hotels, and residences. The Wingate Inn at Charles Pointe will open this Fall. Construction of a Microtel Inn & Suites will begin this summer to open in 2006. More than 1,500 residences will be built on the site.

"Tour the Pointe will be an informative day for adults and a fun day for the entire family. It also will be of special interest to all of those who are interested in learning more about the concept of a master-planned community and the opportunity it offers for a unique lifestyle," Corton concluded.

Genesis Partners will be joined during the event by representatives of their partners who are involved in building the community. Those partners include: CB Richard Ellis, City of Bridgeport, Communications Plus, Dominion Gas, ERA Apex Realty Services, Fifth Third Bank, Harrison County Commission, Harrison Rural Electrification Association, Microtel Inns & Suites, S&A Homes, Secure US, Tailfeathers, and Wingate Inn.
