Following Bridgeport City Council’s recent approval of a TIF district at Charles Pointe, the Harrison County Commission has adopted a resolution to set a public hearing on the TIF (Tax Increment Financing) request.
The public hearing is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. July 28 in the commission hearing room on the second floor of the Harrison County Courthouse.
According to recent reports, Genesis Partners, developers of the 2,000-acre community, is seeking approval from the commission for TIF financing for the $1 billion project.
TIF allows developers to freeze their property tax values and defer tax payments tax payments for up to 30 years to help with infrastructure associated with the development.
Charles Pointe, once finished, is expected to include 1,700 homes, hotels, retailers, restaurants, theaters, parks and other recreational facilities.
